3 Social Media Rules You Cannot Ignore
1. Be Authentic
It is always good to post trendy content to your social media, but take it a step further by offering content that is based on your experience and perspective. Your audience will appreciate seeing a fresh view and hearing an authentic voice in that space. What does it mean to be authentic? Speak from the heart and be your natural self! Show off your personal and/or brand values!
2. Offer Valuable Actionable Information
Do you have information that is actionable? A quick rule of thumb to check if your information is sound is to ask yourself these two questions:
- Does it solve their problem
- Does it help them make a decision?
As an authority voice in your industry, offer real solutions to help your audience be better informed. This is actionable content that gives your audience more value and reason to keep following your social media networks. Worried the information is too hard to share in a single image or post? Make it a video series!
3. Video...Video...Video!
Did someone say Video again? Yes! We did. It’s true, video outperforms static image posts any day of the week. The click-through rate, video completion rate, and engagement rates are significantly higher than those of static images.
According to Twitter, Liz Alton states “Videos get people to take action. Tweets with video attracted 10x more engagements than Tweets without video. And Promoted Tweets with videos save more than 50% on cost-per-engagement.”
As of September 2020, Pinterest now has video pins that play in users' feeds.
Instagram Reels are performing better and are favored by the Instagram algorithm. Instagram reels offer social media managers and businesses the chance to play with audio, AR effects, timers, countdowns, alignment, and speed.
